medicusmundi and Nweti-Communication for Health launch the media campaign “Right to health, everyone’s right” that aims to contribute to the realization of the right to health of the Mozambican population. The campaign is one of the activities of the project “Strengthening, Promotion and Defense of Primary Health Care in Mozambique” that medicusmundi is developing with funding from the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation. For this campaign, we also have funding from the Barcelona City Council.
Interview with Neus Peracaula, representative of medicusmundi in Mozambique, explaining the campaign.
The campaign is based on socio-health research that medicusmundi has carried out in collaboration with the National Health Institute of Mozambique, the Eduardo Mondlane School of Medicine, the Institute of Economic and Social Studies (IESE), the Pemba Operational Research Nucleus and the Pompeu Fabra University of Barcelona. It aims to transmit the evidence generated in the scientific and academic field through clear and simple messages that inform and mobilize citizens for the right to health and the active defense of a public health system based on Primary Health Care (PHC).
The campaign addresses some of the major challenges that the Mozambican National Health System must face in order to guarantee the right to health of the population.
The messages bring us closer to issues of great importance in the current context of Mozambique, such as inequalities in access to primary health care, the financing of the health sector, the informal sale of medicines and the risks of the extractive industry for the environment and the health of the population.
