Several institutions from the town of Riberalta, Bolivia, have united recently, medicusmundi, among them, which as you know has been working in the health care sector, especially within the area of sexual and reproductive rights, in order to create an interinstitutional platform against violence towards women and family members.
Together with the setting up of the platform, a commitment has been signed up in order to coordinate, articulate, disseminate and include all those public and private institutions of the civil society working on the prevention, the caring, the training and the incidence regarding violence towards women, thus, preventing the duplicity of efforts and resources and strengthening empowerment
Our representative and project coordinator, María Angélica Toro Rojas, will be in charge of the coordination of this platform, taking up the challenge in order to reduce the high rates of violence and insecurity unfolding in that town.
This platform represents, no doubt, a further step in the fight against violence, and we hope it will be useful to improve the coordination and the tasks of all the people involved in this uphill, but necessary battle.
