The Closing Ceremony of the five courses conducted by the Health Training Centre of Pemba, in the province of Cabo Delgado, Mozambique, was held on the last 15th of December 2014. We have been collaborating with this Centre in order to improve the capabilities of the workers of the country’s public health system.
In the presence of the Cabo Delgado Province Governor, the Head of the Provincial Health Directorate, the Health Councillor of the municipality of Pemba and the rest of attendees, diplomas were conferred to the 136 new graduates, 49% of which were women.
Noteworthy among the five courses ending in December, was the General Nursing Course (Intermediate Level), with 27 new graduates (8 females and 19 males), co-financed by medicusmundi and benefiting from its technical support, with funds coming from the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), within the framework of the current Programme we develop in Mozambique and Angola in order to strengthen their public health services.
By completing this nursing course we have achieved the result we aimed for, i.e. seeing quality and quantity of human resources in the Healthcare Units increased, since all 27 new women and men graduates will soon be integrated as civil servants into the National Health System of the Cabo Delgado Province.
Congratulations to all, women and men, and good luck in this new stage you are about to begin as healthcare professionals.
